Volunteers needed for Colonial Day

5th grade Colonial Day will be held on Thursday, February 19th at Half Day School during the school day and we need many volunteers to make it a success!

Colonial Day is a 5th-grade tradition. During Colonial Day, the students will rotate through activities simulating what daily life may have looked like during colonial times. Each activity will be 30 minutes long.  The teachers will run the activities and the volunteers will assist.

We would like to have one person at each station who is available to stay all day (with a break from 11:30-12:15).  This person will help bridge between the morning and afternoon sessions, particularly helping to instruct the afternoon shift on how the activity runs.  And we also need volunteers to sign up for either a morning or afternoon spot.  No advance prep is necessary for these roles. We need you for the entire time slot! Please only sign up if you can be there for 100% of the time commitment.

Explore the Arts Day 2026

D103’s annual Explore the Arts Day will take place at Daniel Wright on Friday, February 20, 2026. Students will participate in hands-on workshops throughout the day in performing arts, visual arts, music, dance, and more.

We are seeking parent/guardian volunteers to help support our visiting artists:

Volunteer Roles

  • Artist Check-In (8:00–9:15 AM): Assist artists with room locations and basic setup.
  • Artist Helper (9:00 AM–12:00 PM): Support one assigned artist and assist students during three workshop sessions (full 3-hour commitment required).

Important Notes

  • This is an early dismissal day for students.
  • Parents/guardians from any D103 school are welcome to volunteer.
  • Explore the Arts Days for other schools will occur in future years (Sprague 2027, Half Day 2028).

Thank you for helping make this creative day a success!
